Echigo-Tsumari Snow Fireworks: Sat 5 March 2016

The biggest fireworks in the world over a snow field! This is a one-day event to enjoy the fantastic world of light in the snow. Join Kyota Takahashi, an artist of light, to plant one of the 20,000 “seeds of light” (a small LED light bulb) which will glow beautifully in the snowfield. Then look up into the sky to see remarkable fireworks spread over and illuminate the winter landscape. And be amused (and amazed) by unique cascades of coloured light over snow fired from a snow-shooting machine.

Snow Sports Day featuring Matsudai Fuyu-no-jin: Sat 12 March 2016

A special day dedicated to enjoying playful games in the snow with artists, local residents, and other supporters. This event is held in conjunction with a local festival, “Matsudai Fuyu-no-jin,” which invites participants to race up the hill to be a “one-day” lord of Matsudai castle.
