Information from Kagoshima Tourism as of 1 March 2018:
An eruption is still ongoing at Mt. Shinmoe in the Kirishima mountain range, and the volcano alert level is maintained at level 3, do not approach the volcano.
The Japan Meteorological Agency has announced at 4:40 pm on March 1st that the off limits area is expanded to within 3km from the Mt. Shinmoe crater.
Beware of large flying rocks and pyroclastic flows caused by eruptions covering areas within 3 km of the Mt. Shinmoe crater, and pay close attention to changes in volcanic activity by following TV or radio broadcast.
