2018 marks the 23rd annual Japanese Film Festival (JFF). With films playing to an audience of over 27,000 across Australia last year alone, we’re excited to announce this year’s incredible line-up. The 2018 program features a wide variety of film genres ranging from belly-aching comedy to exquisitely crafted anime tales and everything in between. Cinephiles and Japanophiles alike are guaranteed to find a film that will spark or reignite their love for Japanese cinema.
For comedic relief, ONE CUT OF THE DEAD, a chaotic zombie flick, or MIXED DOUBLES, a hilarious feature on the sport of table tennis, should top your list.
Nothing says Japanese film more than anime! DETECTIVE CONAN: CRIMSON LOVE LETTER or NIGHT IS SHORT, WALK ON GIRL promises to meet your anime quota for the year.
Classic Japanese films more up your alley? The 1953 film adaptation, A GEISHA, tells the narrative of identity struggle through the life of a geisha using elegant storytelling.
